“Real and Imagined,” watercolor paintings by Joyce Bell, October 2-28 at The Artists’ Gallery

Columbia artist Joyce Bell will share her stunning watercolors in a show titled “Real and Imagined” at The Artists’ Gallery; the show runs from October 2-28 and there will be a reception at the gallery, located at Taylor’s Collective:  Antiques, Art, Artisans,  8197 Main Street, Ellicott City, on October 6 from 3-5 p.m.
The images are mostly floral with some figurative and still life work. Bell commented:  “As I was planning for this show, I thought about the images that influenced my choices over the past 25 years. I realized my garden and its beautiful flowers were always calling to me. Walking along the garden path with friends and watching all the wondrous little critters has always brought me joy, so it’s no surprise I would choose these things to enlighten my paintings. I love drawing real images but I prefer to choose my own imagined colors and surrounding elements for enhancement. I hope visitors who see these paintings feel the joy I do. “
Bell received a master’s degree from Towson University and taught art to elementary and middle school students for the next 30 years throughout the Baltimore County school system. She is a signature member of the prestigious Baltimore Watercolor Society and has studied with many nationally well-known artists. Bell has received numerous awards in the Baltimore area. Presently, she is a member of The Artists’ Gallery in Ellicott City and teaches watercolor to adults at the Columbia Art Center.
