From my youngest days I have enjoyed discovering shells and rocks on beaches and paths. As I grew, I graduated to exploring mine tailings with my Dad while on family vacations to Michigan, mountain trails in Maine, and just about any other place that offered the chance to collect interesting natural objects. The mineral specimens, crystal groups, and shells that I collected grace my home in suburban Maryland to this day.
ELYSIUM was born in 2005 when I realized that I could combine my lifelong love of nature’s bounty with my Fine Arts training. Each one-of-a-kind piece starts with an individual item that catches my eye and sparks my imagination. This might be a beautiful cabochon to wire wrap, a unique strand of pearls, or perhaps a handmade lampwork bead. Combinations of other beads, natural elements and precious metals are carefully chosen to enhance and finish the piece.
Creating jewelry is my meditation; the process takes me to a place where the interplay of color, texture and form are all encompassing. I find serenity and joy while working on a piece and a sense of accomplishment upon its completion. I trust that these positive feelings will transfer to you as you wear my jewelry and that it will continue to bring you pleasure for many years.
I love the balance of a well crafted necklace or bracelet, but I also take delight in the asymmetry and unique features of each stone and gem in my inventory. Nature’s exotic and exciting facets are always my inspiration, and it is my pleasure to offer these handcrafted creations to you.
