Cindi and Caitlin Ryland opened Retropolitan’s doors in 2003 to offer clients an opportunity to bring beautiful objects from the past into their homes and everyday lives. Since its inception, Retropolitan’s mission has been to provide upscale yet affordable treasures to all.
Specializing in one-of-a-kind antique and vintage lighting, vintage clothing and midcentury modern design, Retropolitan has worked with costume and set designers; we sell and rent historically accurate clothing, furniture, lighting and accessories for local and professional theater, film and television; we have worked with HBO’s Boardwalk Empire Seasons 2 through 5 and all 3 series of Australian Broadcasting Company’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (shown on PBS) and The Dressmaker, released in October, 2015. We are presently working with HBO’s Vinyl, now filming its second season.
Retropolitan also provides customized design services and home staging. All of our pieces are timeless and coordinate well with antique, vintage and contemporary decors; they stand the test of time and have never been bettered.
